Born in Athens, Georgia, DiiJai, sometimes referred to as DiiJai The Singer—was destined for the spotlight. With a mother who served as the minister of music in the Baptist church and was a skilled violinist and flutist, and a father who was a gifted singer, trumpeter, and saxophonist, music was woven into the fabric of DiiJai’s upbringing. He began singing in church choirs at just two years old and immediately knew that performing was his purpose.

Throughout his youth, DiiJai polished his craft by performing in talent shows, grade school bands and orchestras, and All-State choirs. His rich, soulful voice earned him recurring opportunities to perform the National Anthem at University of Georgia basketball games and various Democratic conventions. He went on to study classical voice at South Carolina State University and Georgia State University, deepening his technical foundation while remaining rooted in his gospel and R&B influences.

In 2008, he began cultivating a digital audience with a YouTube channel that combined vocal covers, comedy sketches, vlogs, and music reviews. His unique blend of entertainment, authenticity, and musical talent quickly earned him a devoted online following.

In 2010, DiiJai released two breakthrough mixtapes that marked his official arrival as a recording artist: Independence Day Vol. 1 and Testimony. Independence Day Vol. 1 introduced his raw vocal ability and emotional songwriting, while Testimony offered a deeper look into his personal journey, faith, and resilience. These projects laid the foundation for his signature blend of vulnerability and vocal strength.

In 2012, DiiJai appeared as an extra on Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta during a scene where aspiring singers auditioned for a chance to join K. Michelle’s Rebellious Soul Tour as background vocalists. That same year, he released Independence Day Vol. 2: The Frustration Of…, a remix-heavy project that reimagined tracks like Trey Songz’s “Can’t Be Friends,” Lupe Fiasco’s “Kick Push,” and Lil’ Wayne’s “Single.”

In 2013, he dropped his first independent album, C.O.L.O.R.S (Compositions Of Love and Other Real Situations)—a genre-blending collection touching on love, heartbreak, reconciliation, and nightlife, wrapped in traditional R&B and pop textures.

His vocal talent earned him opportunities to open for acclaimed artists such as Syleena Johnson, Sammie, Case, and B. Slade (formerly Tonèx). He also sang with Kanye West’s Sunday Service Choir and lent background vocals to Yummy Bingham, James Wright Chanel (of “Patty Pies” fame), and R&B icon Kelly Price.

In 2017, DiiJai began exploring new creative territory when he starred in the independent comedy YouTube series Planet Venus, showcasing his range beyond music. In 2018, he released PROLOGUE: It Is What It Is, the first installment in a trilogy of projects detailing his real-life experiences in emotionally and physically abusive relationships. He returned in 2025 with PRELUDE: It Was What It Was, led by a remix of Chris Brown’s viral hit “Residuals.”

During the years between major projects, DiiJai kept his audience engaged with emotionally charged singles like “Fuck Nigga (Parts 1 and 2),” “Silent Treatment,” and remixes of Keyshia Cole’s “You” and J. Cole’s “The Cut Off.”

In 2023, he joined the main cast of the YouTube reality series On The Way Up: Atlanta in its third season, after previously appearing as a friend of the show. He also auditioned for American Idol and The Voice, continuing to pursue every platform that allowed him to share his voice and story.

In 2024, DiiJai made a national appearance in a Super Bowl commercial promoting Usher’s halftime show, performing in the gospel choir scene—marking yet another moment where his artistry intersected with major pop culture.

Now based in Atlanta, Georgia, DiiJai continues to evolve as an artist and storyteller. Influenced by Gospel, R&B, Country, and Alternative music, he refuses to be boxed in. His upcoming album, A Soul Without A Heart, will conclude his emotionally gripping trilogy and solidify his place as a voice for the vulnerable, the bold, and the unheard.

“I want to say the things in my music that other male artists are afraid to and touch areas in my music that other artists aren’t,” he says. “I’m a man that feels, and I refuse to be boxed in, in a world and industry that believes men shouldn’t have feelings.”

Unapologetically honest and creatively fearless, DiiJai is a genre-blending force whose art speaks directly to the heart.
